Candia, with its characteristic red-roofed historical center, is the privileged entrance in Canavese. It rises on the slopes of the Monte Santo Stefano, from which you can enjoy a magnificent panorama from the hills of Monferrato and Superga above Turin to Monviso and, in the north side, from the Serra Morenica to Gran Paradiso mountains.
In the lower part of the town, the lake, ancient glacier residue, included in the Candia lake National Park, one of the most important wetlands of Italy.
On the green shores, reed beds, forest, grassland, blooming orchards and vineyards.
The nature trails and cycle paths in the Park, allow you to enjoy an environment remained wild for the absence of buildings and houses. Sustainable management of the Park and the lake allow to benefit of its beauty with principle of preservation of the natural environment. On the shores of the lake there is an equipped area, with car parking from which you can reach the Visitor Centre and the structure of the Park, at the Società Canottieri Candia.
For the nature lovers and for those that want to participate to the nature conservation, the Park Visitor Centre, with an educational station, allow to take part to research activities, bird-watching and –ringing in addition to organize guided visits.
Apart from on foot or by cycle, another fascinating way to venture you in the calm water of the lake to observe its flora and fauna, is to make excursions in canoe and kayak. At the Centro Canottieri Candia it is possible to follow also some lessons.
At the different structures of the park, you can rent rowing or electric powered boats and obtain the permit for fishing.
Overlooking the lake, you can have fun climbing between the trees of the Adventure Park or relaxing under the sun in the swimming pool.
